Register for the 8th ISSMMTC

We are now open for registration. To register, you need to:

  • Complete the registration page which you can find HERE (will open new window) which includes:
    • Additional events (field trips, workshop)
    • Let us know about any special requirements (dietary, mobility, etc.)
    • Additional dinner guests besides you
    • Pay the fees (you will receive email confirmation for payment)
    • Submit (you will receive email confirmation for registration)
  • Early bird discount fees apply until 15 November 2017.

Travel Grants

Partial financial support is available for students, post-doctoral fellows and early career scientists to attend the 2018 ISSMMTC in Victoria, BC, Canada that will take place 7-9 May, 2018. Grantees are required to present their work as part of the conference in the broader theme of submarine mass movements and their consequences.

Special conditions/considerations:

  1. Priority will be given to students and participants from developing countries (proof of student or career status will be requested).
  2. Student or participant must be the 1st author of a complete research paper or poster
  3. Student or participant must attend the conference and present his/her work before reimbursement can be processed.
  4. The successful grantees will be selected by the Student Grant Committee from the list of applicants that fulfill the previous conditions.
  5. Grantees will be expected to acknowledge in their poster/presentation S4SLIDE, UNESCO, and IGCP.
  6. Applications should be emailed to the Student Grant Committee Chair: Dr. Lorena Moscardelli (lorena.moscardelli@utexas.edu).
  7. The title of the email must be 'S4SLIDE/ISSMMTC8 grant application'€, the email should contain your abstract, affiliation, information about your degree or academic position and a 2-page CV.
  8. The deadline for application submission is 15 February 2018.

Abstract submission deadline with intent to publish in the "Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences" volume, produced by the Geological Society of London (GSL) 15 February 2017
GSL first draft paper submission deadline: 1 August 2017 
Return of GSL manuscripts to authors for final revision: 1 October 2017
Final paper submission deadline to GSL: 1 November 2017
Early bird registration deadline: 15 November 2017
Application for student and post-doc travel support deadline: 15 February 2018
Abstract submission deadline for long, non-GSL abstracts: 15 March 2018
Registration deadline for guaranteed receipt of symposium book (later registration possible at same cost without guaranteed book): 15 March 2018
